Scope
- Advances in Plant Breeding covers recent developments and emerging trends in plant breeding and genetics, with a strong focus on biotechnological approaches for crop improvement. The book presents an integrated view of conventional and modern breeding strategies aimed at enhancing crop productivity, quality, and adaptability. It includes discussions on genetic diversity, germplasm conservation and utilization, quantitative genetics, genomics, and molecular breeding tools such as marker-assisted selection and genomic selection. The scope further extends to plant biotechnology techniques including tissue culture, doubled haploids, genetic transformation, and genome editing technologies such as CRISPR/Cas systems. Emphasis is given to breeding for biotic and abiotic stress tolerance, yield improvement, nutritional quality, and climate resilience. The book also addresses the use of bioinformatics, phenomics, and high-throughput technologies in breeding programs, along with ethical, regulatory, and biosafety considerations. Overall, it serves as a comprehensive reference for researchers, postgraduate students, plant breeders, geneticists, and biotechnologists working toward sustainable agriculture and food security.
